 What’s New for the 2026 Chevrolet Equinox?

The Chevy Equinox generates envy everywhere it goes with its contemporary design. The compact crossover SUV was brilliantly redesigned in 2025, so there are only a few updates to the 2026 version. These updates touch on the optional packages, exterior, and performance.

In 2026, the Chevy Equinox is now available with a drive mode selector for every trim level. The three trim levels, which are the LT, RS, and Activ, all come with the same powertrain. This is a turbocharged 1.5-liter, four-cylinder engine linked to a continuously variable automatic transmission. The system produces 175 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque. However, an eight-speed auto transmission is offered as an alternative. With this transmission, the torque is 203 pound-feet. All trims have front-wheel drive with the option to upgrade to all-wheel drive.

On the exterior and only on the Activ and RS trim levels, the Iridescent Pearl Tricoat paint from 2025 is replaced by Polar White Tricoat paint in the new model year. In addition to this change, the LT trim level’s Convenience II package no longer includes roof rails. However, roof rails are available with the Midnight Edition.

The standout style of the 2026 Equinox is established by the unique front-end design and tall profile. The wide grille features a large, honeycomb mesh pattern. This grille is capped on three sides by a thick, chrome band that tapers upward to support the slender LED headlights. Accent lighting stands tall below the headlights. The Equinox’s design also includes thick molding on the lower door panels and the squared-off fenders. Some Equinox trims are available with a two-tone roof.

The standard features in the Equinox LT are safe teen driver settings, remote start, a heated steering wheel, heated front seats, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 5G wireless internet hotspot, an 11-inch digital instrument panel, an 11.3-inch touch display screen, intersection collision mitigation, blind-spot intervention, lane departure sensing, and a few additional features. With higher trim levels and optional packages, the Equinox adds a wireless smartphone charger, heated and rain-sensing wipers, a dual-zone auto climate control system, a hands-free power liftgate, synthetic leather and suede upholstery, a panoramic sunroof, a rear pedestrian alert, a surround-view camera system, and a digital rear mirror.
